Program Purpose
The Graduate Certificate in Data Science program offers a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for careers in data science. The program covers the fundamental concepts and practical skills necessary for data analysis, modeling, and visualization, as well as the application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to real-world data problems.
By the end of the program, students will have a solid foundation in the mathematical and statistical concepts necessary for data analysis, as well as hands-on experience with Python programming, data analysis, and visualization tools. They will also have practical experience using machine learning and AI techniques to solve real-world problems and be prepared for careers in data science career.
Educational Objectives
The Graduate Certificate in Data Science program aims to:
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the mathematical foundations of data science, including linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and statistical inference.
- Apply their knowledge of data analysis and visualization using Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib.
- Perform data mining and machine learning tasks to solve real-world problems, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
- Set up and deploy/manage big data and cloud computing environments, and process large datasets using distributed computing techniques. Develop a strong understanding of how data can drive business decisions, and communicate data insights effectively to stakeholders.
