Competitive Scholarship Opportunities
We believe the Mid-Hudson region is home to some of the brightest minds, and these competitive scholarships are our way of investing in our neighbors and ensuring that local students can pursue their educational dreams without leaving the community they love. Merit-Based Scholarships
Our merit-based scholarships recognize and reward academic excellence. Awards are based on your demonstrated academic performance and automatically considered when you apply for admission.
Important: Students do not need to meet all GPA, SAT, and ACT scores listed. Meeting any one of the criteria qualifies you for that scholarship level.
First-Time Freshman Scholarships
Based on your high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores (if provided):
| GPA | SAT | ACT | Scholarship | |
| Merit Scholarship | 3.0 – 3.59 | 1250 | 26 | $17,900 |
| Distinguished Scholar Scholarship | 3.6 – 3.89 | 1400 | 31 | $18,900 |
| Northern Excellence Scholarship | 3.9+ | 1500 | 34 | $19,900 |
Scholarship Renewal for Current Students
Current students must reapply for scholarships and financial aid each academic year. To be eligible for renewal, you must maintain the required cumulative GPA and remain in good academic and conduct standing.
| Cumulative GPA to Renew Scholarship | Scholarship | |
| Merit Scholarship | 2.8-3.49 | $17,900 |
| Distinguished Scholar Scholarship | 3.5-3.79 | $18,900 |
| Northern Excellence Scholarship | 3.8+ | $19,900 |
Note: If your GPA falls below your current scholarship tier, you’ll be awarded the next lower tier based on your cumulative GPA. Students with academic or conduct-related disciplinary infractions may become ineligible for part or all of their award.
Graduate Student Scholarships
For in-person graduate students, based on academic performance:
| Cumulative GPA to Renew Scholarship | Scholarship | |
| Merit Scholarship | 2.8-3.49 | $8,000 |
| Distinguished Scholar Scholarship | 3.5-3.79 | $9,000 |
| Northern Excellence Scholarship | 3.8+ | $10,000 |
Need-Based Aid
In addition to merit-based scholarships, FTC Northern provides institutional need-based aid for students who demonstrate financial hardship. This aid is applied directly to tuition and is awarded competitively based on demonstrated financial need and fund availability.
How it works: Need-based aid is calculated as a percentage reduction on your tuition after merit scholarships have been applied. The amount depends on your family’s annual household income and assets.
| % Off Tuition after Scholarship | |
| Annual Household Income less than $75,000 Asset (excluding primary residence*) below $75,000 | Up to 15% |
| Annual Household Income between $75,001 – $125,000 Asset (excluding primary residence*) between $75,001 and $150,000 | Up to 10% |
| Annual Household Income above $125,001 Asset (excluding primary residence*) above $150,001 | 0% |
* Note on primary residence: Assets exclude your primary residence if its market value is below $400,000. For primary residences valued above $400,000, we may use the next lower need tier. If your family’s income and assets fall into different tiers (and differ by only one level), we generally use the higher need tier.
