Application Documents
All applicants must submit the following:
1. Completed Application Form
Submit your application through our Online Application Form. The application allows you to save your progress and return to complete it at any time.
2. Official Academic Transcripts
Your transcript requirements depend on your applicant type:
First-Year Students:
- Official high school transcript showing grades 9-12
Transfer Students:
- Official high school transcript
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, including your most recent semester
Second Degree Applicants: Submit an official transcript from the institution where you completed your highest degree.
3. Personal Essay
Write a 1-2 page essay discussing a value that is important to you, and how you have applied it in your personal academic or professional life.
We’re interested in learning about the values that shape who you are and how they’ve influenced your journey so far. This essay will help us understand your character, what principles guide your decisions, and how you translate values into action.
4. Letters of Recommendation (Optional)
While not required, we welcome up to two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, coaches, employers, or community leaders who can speak to your character, abilities, and potential for success at FTC Northern.
5. Portfolio or Audition (Arts Programs)
Fine Arts Programs: Submit a portfolio of 10-15 works demonstrating your technical skill and artistic vision. Include observational drawings and works in your area of concentration.
Dance and Music Programs: Complete a live or recorded audition. Contact the admissions office for specific audition requirements and to schedule your audition date.
6. Application Fee ($50)
Additional Requirements for International Students
If you’re applying from outside the United States, you’ll also need to submit:
- Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL 73 + or IELTS 6.0+ or equivalent)
- Documentation of financial support for your studies
- Copy of passport
What Happens After You Apply?
Application Confirmation: You’ll receive a confirmation email immediately after submitting your application. Our admissions team will contact you within three business days to acknowledge receipt of your materials and let you know if we need any additional information.
Review Process: Once we have all required documents, our admissions committee will conduct a thorough review of your application. We take a holistic approach, considering your academic record, personal statement, recommendations, and—for arts applicants—your creative work or audition.
Decision Timeline: You can expect to receive your admission decision approximately one month after submitting all required materials. We’ll notify you via email and provide information about next steps, including enrollment, financial aid, and orientation.
