Course Withdrawals

Course Withdrawals

ATTENTION F-1 STUDENTS: If you need to drop below the full course load (12 credits for undergraduate students, 9 credits for graduate students), please consult with the Office of International Services BEFORE you drop any courses.

Overview

If you are considering to withdraw from a course, please consult with your professor and advisor. Be sure to double check the deadline for withdrawing from a course.

Withdrawing from a course will result in a “W” (withdrawn) appearing on your transcript for the course. Courses marked with a “W” do not factor into a student’s grade point average (GPA) and are not considered courses attempted in assessing whether the student satisfies the requirements for graduation. Withdrawing from a course AFTER THIS DATE will result in a “WF” (withdraw fail) appearing on your transcript and will be counted to your GPA calculation.

How to Withdraw

If you would like to withdraw from a course, please follow the instructions provided below:

  1. Please speak with your instructor and visit your advisor for advice.
  2. Visit the Registrar’s Office to withdraw from a course after the Add/Drop date.

What happens after you submit the course withdrawal request at the Registrar’s Office?

  1. Your advisor will receive an email that informs them of your request.
  2. The changes will be seen in Populi after the Registrar’s Office processes the request.
  3. Canvas is updated shortly after changes are made in Populi.
